INTRODUCTION:
Welcome to Sixth Sense, an exciting online application for your Red
Ryder Host, WWIV, or Mansion bulletin board system.
In Sixth Sense, you are given a simple ESP testing device for your
users. Choosing from tests of 25, 50, or 100 cards, they must try to
guess what the next pattern will be. Their probability of success is
calculated, and they are given their final score.
INSTALLATION:
The steps to installation are simple. Follow the steps outlined below:
• In setting the Sixth Sense path, simply designate where the
application's information files are.
• Copy the Sixth Sense application to the same folder as your
bulletin board.
• In your host bbs application, set up a menu choice where you want
to run an external application, in this case Sixth Sense. In Red
Ryder Host this is done with MenuEdit (for more in-detail help,
please refer to your Host manual). In Mansion, this is done
through the built-in menu editor. In the WWIV system, pressing
the proper key while waiting for a call will bring you to the
external application setup.
• Run your bulletin board, and launch Sixth Sense. This will allow
you to enter the correct pathnames via a dialog box, as well as
giving you the option of a log file or no log file (marking when
people have entered or exited Sixth Sense). Setup and running the
application work ONLY if you launch from your bulletin board
application, otherwise Sixth Sense does not find the "Launch BBS"
or corresponding file (depending on which bbs program you are
using) that it requires to work correctly. If you need to re-
configure the Sixth SEnse data after moving your bbs application or
the folders, it is easiest to open your System Folder and drag
the "Sixth Sense Options" file to the trash.
• Quit from Sixth Sense, and your bulletin board will now be able to
run the external door. OTHER INFO:
If you are running under multifinder, select the "No Local Echo" in the
sysop menus, and the window will not appear.
BUG FIX AND ADDITION HISTORY:
07/06/90 First version released.
12/27/91 System 7.0 patch.
07/12/92 Added Second Sight direct-LaunchSS option in dialogs
Also fixed refusal to recognize Register files problem.
SHAREWARE FEES:
As a reminder, THIS IS SHAREWARE. I know how you don't like to spend
too much money running an expensive phone line, board software, and
occupying a mac all day, but I consider bulletin board sysops to be of
a higher nature than most users. Which means (if you haven't already)
you will find it in your hearts to send me (Benjamin Kuo, write that
name on the check, please), a lousy $15 for which you will receive a
disk in the mail with the latest version.
The author reserves all rights to the program. Local
bulletin boards may distribute this program with the documentation, in
StuffIt format, freely, providing that they do not gain any renumeration
besides the operating costs. This program may not be distributed with any
commercial software without the author's written permission. User groups
are free to distribute the program in monthly disks and to include the
program on any CD-ROM (such as BMUG's PD-ROM) or public domain library,
as long as there is no charge beyond costs of media. Public domain
distribution companies, including EDUCOMP, PD•EXCHANGE, and so-called
"National User Groups" MAY NOT DISTRIBUTE or SELL this program in any way,
without the express written permission of the author.
